As the founder of Shy's Nurse Tutoring, I am deeply committed to helping nursing students excel in their academic journey.

Shy’s Nurse Tutoring was founded on the belief that when I E.A.T, we all E.A.T — Educate, Achieve, Thrive.

I was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. From a young age, I excelled in math and science and always found joy in helping others — whether it was teaching them something new or helping classmates understand material in school.

Despite knowing my strengths and passions, I was unsure of what career path to pursue after high school.  I changed my major several times while in college, unable to find a program that truly resonated with me. I lost motivation, and I ultimately withdrew from school.

Working minimum-wage jobs that still weren’t enough to support me, I knew I had to make a change.

That’s when my journey into healthcare began. I enrolled in a Licensed Practical Nurse program — not fully knowing what it meant to be a nurse at the time. But through the program and the reality of working in the field, I learned that nursing is about so much more than just healthcare workers. Nurses are caregivers, advocates, problem-solvers, and team players. The role we play is essential — and it broke my heart to realize how understaffed our facilities are, and how that directly affects the patients we care for. When there aren't enough nurses, patients suffer — often more than they already are due to their health conditions. This encouraged me to go on and obtain my Registered Nurse License.

Every nurse has an important role in healthcare. I believe my calling is to help increase the number of dedicated nurses by becoming a nurse tutor. Through Shy’s Nurse Tutoring, I aim to educate, empower, and uplift future healthcare professionals in my community — encouraging them to become leaders and change-makers in this field.

Together, we can fight short-staffing and the devastating outcomes it causes for the most vulnerable members of our communities.
